r.i.p. pioneer chicken

memorial day.

another one has fallen.

r.i.p. pioneer chicken. although you weren't as tasty as i remembered you from my childhood, i still felt sad when i saw the fence come up a few months ago. after all, even though my palate has changed, we were still old friends afterall. perhaps i can find your cousin up north when i want to reminisce.

  2. Are they all gone? I feel like there are still some around. Maybe that's just my wishful thinking.

  3. Their cajun rice was so good, really "dirty rice"! There are still locations at Soto & Whittier and one on Olympic near Fairfax.

  5. Oh no! Another one of my childhood staples is gone. My mom would take us there every year we visited Cali until she moved to Glendale. Oh Pioneer you will be etched in my memory.

  6. There is also one in Bell Gardens at 6323 Florence Avenue, Bell Gardens.

I go there whenever I come down from "Lost Wages".

    Still my fav. chicken.
