verdict: omg, i love it!
when i think of ramen, i use to think of the "kung-fu" brand that i get in asian supermarkets. you know, the ones flavored with shrimp, chicken, or beef powder with a brick of fried ramen ready for a bowl of boiling hot water.
then there's daikokuya ramen. wowzas! an early dinner with friends turned out to be an amazing slurp fest! i ordered the ramen and an appetizer of spicy tuna. the spicy tuna was good, but the RAMEN. dang! get the heck out! this stuff is awesome. the soup was nicely seasoned and definitely not too salty but still thick in flavor. the noodles were aldente which provided great texture to add to the medley of incredible flavors already going around in my mouth. i LOVED the generous pile of sliced green onions heaped in the bowl. though my breath smelled rancid, my tastebuds were clearly enjoying itself. and the meat...ah, the meat. i called it "melty meat" because the meat literally melts itself in your mouth when you eat it due to the perfect amount of marbled fat. and the egg...hey, who doesn't like embryos anyways? it was a damn delectable bowl of ramen.
now when i think of ramen, i think daikokuya! but when i think of ramen in the same thought as i'm hungry, i think get there the heck early or don't go at all. the wait will kill you. consider this a warning.
